Paul Donovan ceramic sculpture "The Watcher"
Paul Donovan makes ceramic sculptures to celebrate the human figure and its aspirations in joyful activity.
His work is inspired by the flints strewn over the Wessex landscape. He recreates their fragmentation and colours in clay and glazes.
Paul observes people and tries to understand the dramatic and anatomical mechanics of a moment of dynamic movement.
His ceramics with their rough-hewn flint form remind us of man’s long working relationship with this material and also of their shared vulnerability to the buffetings of life.
