Linda Beveridge Jewellery - Handcut Amazonite Necklace
Handcut Amazonite pieces with handmade sterling beads necklace. Amazonite is a stone mined in Brazil, but oddly enough, not mined close to the Amazon. We don't know the ancient Egytian name for Amazonite, but we do know that mines of Amazonite supplied the early Egyptians with this stone which they used in both ornamentation and jewellery. More highly prized than Turquoise, the Egyptians referred to it as the Stone of Truth, and the Stone of Courage, and a Stone of Harmonies.
This necklace has hand cut 'slabs' of stone with handmade sterling beads, a sterling chain and clasp.
Size: Total necklace length 20.5" or 52.5cm approx. Can be shortened by approx. 2" or 5cm by using the extra ring on the chain. Individual 'slabs' of the stone range from approx. 2 to 3cm wide to 2 to 3 cm high.
